Incorrect GPS date on GEN1, GEN2, GEN3 units

We have recently received several reports regarding older LX8000 and LX9000 devices displaying incorrect dates, typically reverting to November 2005. After investigation, we have identified that this issue commonly occurs in devices equipped with the uBlox LEA-4S GPS module, due to a firmware bug inside the GPS receiver.

If you are unable to find your flight after landing or notice the incorrect date on the Info page, it is likely your device is affected by this GPS issue. We have developed a temporary software fix to address the problem. In the next few weeks, we will come back to you with a final solution. In the meantime, please follow the instructions below based on your device generation:

  • GEN4 and GEN5 devices: Not affected at all.
  • GEN3 devices: Download the patched firmware version 9.53a from the following link: https://gliding.lxnav.com/beta/
  • GEN2 devices: Request the firmware version 9.03 update using this link: firmware-request/
  • GEN1 LX8000: No firmware solution available.
