The LX magnetic compass is comprised of a 32-bit micro-controller combined with 9 sensors (3 axis, accelerometers, magnetometers), to generate a very accurate measurement of the magnetic heading (compared to a GPS calculation). The magnetic heading is tilt compensated; calculations are performed 50 times per second and produce a stable reference heading for wind calculations and course change of direction information. The compass automatically calibrates itself during flight. The LX magnetic compass can be added to any existing or new LX90xx or LX80xx unit through a standard RS-485 bus connection. The compass will work only with V9, V8 or V80 variometers.
